3 firefighters hurt battling 2-alarm fire at Queens commercial building

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Three firefighters suffered injuries while battling a fire at a commercial building in Queens on Saturday, according to the FDNY.

The 2-alarm blaze broke out just before 11 a.m. at 62-16 Woodhaven Blvd. in Rego Park, officials said.

The FDNY deployed 106 fire and EMS personnel to the scene, and the fire was controlled by 12:16 p.m.

When the response kicked off, NYC Emergency Management warned New Yorkers that traffic delays and road closures could be expected in the area.

Citizen App footage from the scene shows plumes of heavy gray smoke coming from the fire scene, and firefighters responding on top of the one-story complex.

Three firefighters were hurt in the response and transported to Long Island Jewish Forest Hills Hospital to treat minor injuries, the FDNY said.

An investigation is underway and the fire marshal will determine its cause.
