3 teen girls arrested for smashing bottle over woman's head in Greenwich Village robbery: NYPD

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Three teenage girls have been arrested for allegedly hitting a woman in the head with a glass bottle and robbing her on a Greenwich Village street last month, the NYPD said Thursday.

A 15-year-old girl and a 16-year-old girl were charged with robbery in connection with the attack, police said. A 14-year-old girl, meanwhile, was charged with robbery, assault, criminal possession of a weapon and unlawful possession of marijuana.

The 40-year-old woman was walking east on West 10th Street around 8 p.m. on Jan. 19 when the three girls approached her from behind and hit her in the back of the head with a glass bottle, knocking her into a flower box, the NYPD said.

After the woman fell, the girls grabbed her iPhone from her hand and fled west on West 10th Street, police said.

The woman was left with a minor injury to her head, but refused medical attention at the scene, the NYPD said.
