NEW YORK (1010 WINS/ WCBS 880 NEWS) – Four people were injured after a fire broke out on the subway tracks of a station in Brooklyn on Sunday, FDNY said.

The fire started on the subway tracks at the High Street–Brooklyn Bridge station just before 6:30 p.m., with firefighters swiftly responding to the scene.

The fire, which broke out as a subway train on the A/C line approached the station, was controlled within an hour, officials said.

The four injured people were transported to nearby hospitals with minor injuries, though the specifics of how they were hurt remain unclear.

The FDNY confirmed that the fire had been extinguished by 7:41 p.m.

There were minor delays with running trains.

The MTA issued a service alert at 8:02 p.m. stating, "A/C trains are running with delays in both directions after FDNY responded to a track fire at High St."

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
