NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – Four children and an adult were injured during a fire inside an apartment in Washington Heights on Wednesday night, the FDNY said—and two of the kids are fighting for their lives.
The FDNY received a call reporting the fire around 11 p.m. inside a fifth floor apartment at a six-story building on 175th Street, near Audubon Avenue.
Two children, a 1-year-old boy and a 2-year-old boy, were in critical condition, while two girls, both 8 years old, were in serious but stable condition.
Firefighters carried one child out of the building, while another was brought out through a window with severe burns, sources said.

According to neighbors, one of the 8-year-old girls ran out of the building screaming about the fire.
A 29-year-old woman is also in stable condition at New York-Presbyterian Hospital. Her relationship to the children was not immediately clear.
Firefighters extinguished the fire within an hour.
The children were also transported to New York-Presbyterian Hospital.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the FDNY.
