78-year-old woman fatally struck by SUV on Upper East Side

NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A 78-year-old woman was fatally hit by the SUV as it made a left turn on the Upper East Side on Thursday, police said.

The accident happened at around 2:20 p.m. at the intersection of 93rd Street and 2nd Avenue, when a 2023 Nissan Pathfinder was making a left turn.

The SUV hit the woman as it made a turn onto 2nd Avenue, police said.

Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene and transported her to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The identity of the deceased woman has not yet been released, pending notification of her family.

The driver of the Nissan Pathfinder remained at the scene following the collision, police said.

Authorities have not made any arrests, and an investigation is ongoing.
