NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Mayor Eric Adams joined activists, advocates and reporters on Sunday morning in greeting a bus of migrant asylum seekers that Texas Gov. Greg Abbott sent from Texas.

This is the second bus to arrive as part of Abbott’s publicity-generating feud with Adams.

The governor has been sending undocumented immigrants to Washington D.C., New York  and other cities as he ramps up his re-election campaign.

Adams accused the governor of using migrants as “political pawns” in his attempts to drive home his anti-immigrant policies ahead of the election.

Abbott said he was testing New York’s commitment as a sanctuary city.

The first bus arrived with about 50 people on Friday. This second bus only carried 14 people.

Adams condemned Abbott’s plan as a cynical and inhumane political stunt while speaking at the Port Authority Bus Terminal where the migrants arrived.

“This is horrific when you think about what the governor is doing,” he said. “The governor of Texas, after a month of traveling across the border, placing [them] on the bus with no direction, to come here.”

Taxi drivers transported the newly-arrived asylum seekers to shelters free of charge.
