NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Mayor Eric Adams met with the city’s five district attorneys at City Hall on Monday to discuss gun violence.

The DA’s from the five boroughs include Manhattan’s Alvin Bragg, The Bronx’s Darcel Clark, Brooklyn’s Eric Gonzalez, Queens’ Melinda Katz and Staten Island’s Michael McMahon.
The officials discussed their shared goal of keeping New Yorkers safe, particularly from the recent surge in gun crimes.
In a joint statement, the group said the conversation was “wide ranging, candid, and productive.”
“The mayor and district attorneys agreed that, among other things, safety and justice are not mutually exclusive, and must go hand in hand,” the statement read.
The group also discussed ways that each office, together with city, state and federal partners, could contribute to combating gun violence and ways in which each person could utilize their voice and platform to provoke changes to the system.
The meeting comes after the mayor’s recently announced “Blueprint to End Gun Violence” initiative, a comprehensive plan that includes deploying more officers to the streets, special public safety policing units, expanded mental health assistance and opportunities for youth, among other action items.
The group agreed to meet regularly.
