NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — Mayor Eric Adams predicted a Yankees sweep in the team’s upcoming series against the Cleveland Guardians during a press conference at Yankee Stadium touting the economic benefits of the postseason on Tuesday.

Each game brings in about 30,000 visitors and generates about $15 million in economic activity, according to the mayor.

This postseason is expected to generate about $93 million in economic activity for the city in total.

“Our city is hitting a home run like Aaron Judge,” said Adams. “We’re knocking it out the park.”

Last week Adams, a noted Mets fan, predicted the team would go to the World Series this year — a bit of wishful thinking that did not pan out.

The Yankees will have their chance to prove the mayor right starting Tuesday night.
