NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The New York Attorney General's Office will investigate the death of a Bronx woman who was struck and killed by a marked NYPD vehicle last week.
Attorney General Letitia James announced Sunday that the office's Special Investigations and Prosecutions Unit was looking into the deadly crash.
Sofia Gomez, 20, died three days after a marked NYPD vehicle struck her near her home in the Pelham Parkway section of the Bronx on Monday afternoon.
Police said a member of the NYPD Highway Patrol was responding to a call for backup at the time and had their lights and sirens on.
Gomez died at Jacobi Medical Center on Thursday.
The NYPD member driving the vehicle hasn't been suspended or placed on desk duty, according to WABC.
