Two victims told police that Jose Burns, 27, approached them on the southbound 2 train with a gun and and demanded their property just before 3 a.m., authorities said.

As the victims fought with Burns, his gun went off and he accidentally shot himself, according to police, reportedly injuring his right calf.

The New York Daily News reports a pair of straphangers alerted the conductor to the shooting, and the train stopped at the station.

Cops said Burns then approached the conductor, pointed his gun at him and insisted the train proceed.

Burns was reportedly arrested near the street on the station’s stairs as he tried to flee.

Police said he was taken to a nearby hospital in stable condition and has been charged with robbery, criminal possession of a weapon, reckless endangerment and menacing.
