Chaos erupted after the Gervonta Davis-Rolando Romero fight which ended around 1 a.m. when several loud thuds were allegedly heard.

Police said they received a 911 call for shots fired. Dozens of people started scrambling for cover, according to reports, injuring multiple people in the process from pushing and shoving, authorities said.

Boxing reporter Ryan Songalia told the New York Post that a fight broke out after everyone but media and production workers left and the commotion was mistaken for a shooter.

“We’re used to brawls at boxing events but recent headlines and the panic of the crowd made many of us worried that our worst fears would come true,” Songalia told the Post. “Thankfully we were able to return to our seats to file our stories and exit safely.”

The NYPD said there were no guns and no shots fired but the cause of the loud noises was still unconfirmed.
