
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police are investigating after a 56-year-old bicyclist was found dead inside a Bronx park last week, officials said.
At approximately 12:29 p.m. on Friday, June 11, police were informed of an unconscious bicyclist, lying on the roadway, along the paved bike path in Van Cortlandt Park, near Dickinson Avenue in the Van Cortlandt Village neighborhood.
Upon arrival, officers observed Jian Hua Li lying on the roadway/bike path, unconscious and unresponsive, with no helmet and with head trauma.
EMS transported Li to Montefiore Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, according to the NYPD.
Further investigation by the NYPD Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad determined the bicyclist was traveling north on the bike path in Van Cortlandt Park, in the vicinity of Dickinson Avenue, when she fell from the bicycle and was discovered lying on the ground.
No other vehicle or persons were involved or affected.
The investigation remains ongoing.
