Pedestrian critically injured by hit-and-run bicyclist in Manhattan

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police on Wednesday released a photo of a hit-and-run bicyclist they said critically injured a pedestrian crossing a Manhattan street last week.

Shortly after 7:30 p.m. last Friday, police responded to a 911 call of a pedestrian struck at the intersection of 2nd Avenue and East 38th Street in Murray Hill.

Further investigation by the NYPD's Highway Collision Investigation Squad revealed that the 59-year-old pedestrian was crossing east to west in the crosswalk on 2nd Avenue, when she was struck by an unknown bicyclist traveling the wrong way in the bike lane, going northbound on 2nd Avenue.

The cyclist did not remain on scene.

EMS transported the pedestrian to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue where she was listed in critical condition.

The suspect was last seen going northbound on 2nd Avenue.
