NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — New York City bodegas workers are pushing to have "panic buttons" installed to help accelerate police response time during emergencies.

On Friday afternoon, the United Bodegas of America gathered at Ameer Deli in Inwood, the location of a triple stabbing that left one person dead and two others injured earlier this week.

The deli did not have a panic button installed.

The group is calling on the city to install buttons at nearly 30,000 bodegas across New York City, connected to the NYPD command during an emergency center that would allow them to monitor in real-time.
