NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A 12-year-old boy was shot in the chest and wounded as he walked down a street in Brooklyn on Saturday night, police said.
The boy was shot near Malcolm X Boulevard and Madison Street in Bedford-Stuyvesant at 9:50 p.m., according to police.
The boy told police he heard gunfire and then felt pain in his chest. He ran into a nearby liquor store, where the owner called 911.

Citizen App video shows an ambulance and police officers outside the liquor store after 10 p.m.
The boy was taken to an area hospital by EMS and is expected to survive.

Detectives are trying to figure out if the boy was the intended target or if he was a bystander. Police believe two groups of young people were fighting in the area at the time of the shooting.
No arrests have been reported.
