NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 13-year-old boy was arrested for murder Monday in last week's stray-bullet shooting of a 16-year-old girl in the Bronx, the NYPD said.

The boy is facing murder, attempted murder, reckless endangerment and manslaughter charges. He also faces several weapons charges including criminal possession of a weapon on school grounds and criminal possession of a firearm, rifle or shotgun in a sensitive location.

Police also arrested a 14-year-old alleged gang member for murder last week in connection to the shooting. The teen boy was getting into a taxi in Longwood when he was arrested. He is allegedly a member of KOD—Kreep on Davidson—a new gang to the area that has no members listed in the NYPD's gang database. Their rival is FOE—Forest Over Everything—which has 16 members in the gang database, police said.

It's unclear which of the two boys is suspected of firing the shot that killed the victim, Evette Jeffrey, 16.

According to officials, Jeffrey was riding a scooter at the time of the shooting around 5 p.m. on Monday, May 12 near Bronx Career and College Preparatory High School in Morrisania.

Jeffrey was shot in the head as she tried to seek cover. She was rushed to NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln where she was pronounced dead. The shooting is believed to have stemmed from a fight in the schoolyard.
