NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A teen is in the hospital after subway surfing on an underground train in a Queens station on Saturday night, police said.
The 16-year-old boy was subway surfing on top of a northbound F train inside the Briarwood subway station and fell as it came to a stop.
He landed on the station platform and suffered injuries to his legs, officials said. Medics transported him to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in stable condition.
The injury comes only days after a 15-year-old boy sustained head injuries after falling off a train while subway surfing in the Bronx.
The MTA and police have worked to limit the dangerous stunt, working with social media companies to remove videos of subway surfers from their platforms and by launching a campaign targeting teens dubbed “Ride Inside, Stay Alive” in 2023.
Six people died subway surfing last year, including two teens one week in late October.
