NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A teen boy was wounded in a stabbing outside a Bronx high school on Wednesday morning, police said.
The 16-year-old was stabbed at 8:45 a.m., near the campus of John F. Kennedy High School on Terrace View Avenue in Spuyten Duyvil.
The teen suffered a stab wound to the abdomen and was taken to Columbia University Irving Medical Center, where he was in stable condition.
In a statement, a Department of Education spokesperson said, "Violence has no place in our schools or our communities. This morning, after a non-school related incident outside of the building, on the perimeter of campus, our outstanding school staff provided the necessary supports, and NYPD responded."
The stabbing came a day after a loaded gun was found on a student at another Bronx high school after a fight Tuesday.
The loaded 9 mm firearm was recovered on a teen boy at Health Opportunities High School in Mott Haven, authorities said.
In response to Tuesday's incident, a DOE spokesperson said, "The safety of our students and staff is our top priority, and all students and staff are safe. NYPD safely recovered this item, all safety procedures were followed, and we are working closely with NYPD regarding follow-up actions."
