NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A teen boy was attacked Tuesday afternoon by a group of eight teens, who beat and stabbed him at the bustling Atlantic Avenue–Barclays Center subway station in Downtown Brooklyn after asking him if he was in a gang, police said.

The NYPD released images Wednesday of the eight suspects, all teen males, who are wanted for the assault.

The 16-year-old victim was walking in the passageway to the 3 and 4 lines shortly after 4 p.m. when the group approached him, police said.

"Are you Folk?" someone in the group asked him, an apparent reference to the Forever Over Latin Kings gang, according to the Daily News.

When the teen told him he wasn't a member of the "Folk Nation," they all assaulted him, police said.

They punched and kicked him repeatedly, and one of them stabbed him in the buttocks and torso using a sharp weapon, according to police.

The teens fled the scene before EMS arrived and transported the victim to Maimonides Medical Center in stable condition.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
