Detectives approached a 17-year-old suspect several blocks from the shooting site, who fled on foot while reaching into his waistband. The juvenile was apprehended following a brief pursuit.
The suspect was in possession of a Tauraus 9 mm handgun, police said. He was arrested and charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon and one count of reckless endangerment, all felonies.
An investigation found that the suspect was involved in a physical fight during which he sustained a laceration. In response, he allegedly shot multiple rounds at his fleeing adversaries.
