NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — A man stole a Chrysler minivan that had a six-month-old infant inside on Sunday morning in the Bronx, and police located the child unharmed in under two hours.

A gold 2000 Chrysler minivan—with the Pennsylvania license plate LYS4776—was left running at East 146th Street and Third Avenue in the Mott Haven section at about 11:27 a.m.

The kidnapper jumped inside and stole the van with the child inside. Police said that he fled southbound on Third Avenue.

Police quickly began releasing information about the kidnapping to heighten public awareness.

At 1 p.m., NYPD Deputy Commissioner of Operations Kaz Daughtry posted on X that the child has been located unharmed, and a suspect is in custody.

Patrol officers found the child, and a 53-year-old man was taken into custody, authorities said.
