Bronx man dies 12 days after being shot in head, cops begin homicide investigation

NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – Police began investigating the death of a Bronx man as a homicide on Sunday after he succumbed to injuries he sustained when he was shot in the head 12 days before.

Officers responded to a 911 call reporting a man shot at 2784 Randall Avenue in the Throgs Neck section of the Bronx at 2:57 p.m. on Jan. 2.

Police at the scene discovered a 43-year-old man, identified as Andy Faris, outside the location with a gunshot wound to the head.

The victim, of Mott Haven, was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi in critical condition, officials said.

Faris succumbed to his injuries on Sunday and was pronounced dead, police said.

The investigation is ongoing.
