MTA bus stabbing leaves woman with collapsed lung; suspect at large: NYPD

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — An MTA bus passenger stabbed a woman in the chest after she confronted him for pushing her husband off the vehicle, leaving her with a collapsed lung, the NYPD said Thursday.

The 42-year-old woman and her 61-year-old husband were on a Bx41 bus stopped on Webster Avenue, near Bedford Park Boulevard in Jerome Park, around 2:15 p.m. on Wednesday when a man pushed the 61-year-old off the bus, police said.


When the woman confronted the man, he stabbed her in the chest, the NYPD said. He fled west on the boulevard after the attack, according to police.

The woman was taken to a nearby hospital with a collapsed lung, the NYPD said. She was listed in stable condition as of Thursday, police said.

Police are now searching for her attacker, a man with a beard who was last seen wearing a black and purple baseball cap, a yellow hooded sweater, blue jeans and black sneakers.
