NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police are investigating attacks on two Bronx subway conductors that happened minutes apart on Thursday afternoon, authorities said.

Sources told the New York Post that the first MTA employee was targeted at the Prospect Avenue station just after 3 p.m. as he was looking out of a subway window, police said.

According to the Post, a man punched the conductor, striking him in the wrist after he raised his arm in defense.

The conductor also hit his head while trying to avoid the attack.

He was taken to Lincoln Hospital for treatment.

Minutes later a second conductor was punched in the head and spat on by an unidentified man at Jackson Avenue station, which is the next stop on the 2/5 line, officials said.

Both victims described their attacker as a man in his 40s.

An investigation remains ongoing as officials try to investigate if the attacks are connected.
