NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A Bronx woman was grazed on the forehead Sunday night by a stray bullet that police believe entered her apartment through the ceiling.

The 55-year-old woman was inside her apartment at 1624 Purdy St. in Parkchester around 11:40 p.m. when the bullet flew into her apartment, according to police.

Police responded to a 911 call about the shooting, and EMS transported her to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi in stable condition with a graze wound to her forehead.

Investigators believe the bullet was fired from the apartment above hers, police said.

The victim’s daughter, Nataliz Polanco, said she heard “a really big gunshot sound” before the bullet entered the apartment.

“I rushed over to her and automatically we was just shook,” Polanco said.

Police said six people, described as “persons of interest,” were being questioned.

No arrests had been reported Monday, as the investigation continued.

Polanco described the shooting as a nightmare and something her family has never had to deal with before.

"Your life can literally be safe one moment and the next just in danger,” she said.
