NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A cashier at a Brooklyn deli was stabbed in the head during a violent attempted robbery early Thursday morning, authorities said.
The incident occurred at around 4:22 a.m. inside a shop at 1249 Sutter Ave. in East New York.
According to police, two men entered the store, brandished a knife and approached the victim to demand money from the register.
The violent encounter was sparked by the attempted theft of a $2 soda, sources told The Post.
The victim was stabbed twice in the left side of his head. Sources told 1010 WINS the victim worked as a cashier at the deli.
The attackers fled the scene in a black truck heading east on Sutter Avenue, officials said.
The victim was transported to a local hospital where he remains in stable condition.
No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
