NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A Brooklyn man was charged with murder Sunday night in the killing of his parents, who were brutally stabbed at the family's home in Brooklyn over the weekend.
Meyer Sperber was charged with two counts of murder and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in Saturday evening's slayings in Borough Park, police said Monday.
The NYPD responded around 5:20 p.m. to a 911 call from a neighbor who was concerned by noise coming from the apartment on 45th Street where the parents and son lived.
When officers arrived at the home near 12th Avenue, they found Jacob and Rachel Sperber, both 75 years old, with numerous stab wounds, police said.
They were both pronounced dead at Maimonides Medical Center.

The son barricaded himself in a bathroom before he was removed on a stretcher and taken into custody as a person of interest, according to law enforcement sources. He was ultimately arrested Sunday.
The gruesome murders sent shockwaves through the tight-knit Borough Park community.
Neighbors said the couple was "quiet" and "nice," while they described their son as "weird" and "mentally ill."
"Not everyone wants to be helped, not everyone could be helped," a man told news reporters. "He had very special parents and maybe had an attack or something, and they just couldn't help it."
