NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — A 46-year-old man is in police custody in connection with the fatal stabbing of his 75-year-old parents inside their Brooklyn residence on Saturday, the NYPD said.

Officers responded to a report of an assault inside 1158 45th Street, in Borough Park, at 5:20 p.m. on Saturday. The call came from a neighbor who heard noise coming from the home.

Upon entry, cops found Jacob Sperber and Rachel Sperber, both 75, with multiple stab wounds to the torso, authorities said.

The couple were rushed to Maimonides Medical Center and pronounced dead upon arrival, police said.

A 46-year-old man, who police have identified as the victims’ son, is in custody, though charges have yet to be filed, officials said.

Police sources said that the son was found barricaded in a bathroom and had to be removed on a stretcher.

Neighbors at the scene told reporters that the couple was community-minded and helpful, but used words like “weird” to describe the son.

“Not everyone wants to be helped, not everyone could be helped. He had very special parents, and maybe he had an attack or something. And they just couldn’t help him,” one neighbor told 1010 WINS/WCBS 880.

The investigation is ongoing.
