NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A woman was shot Tuesday inside her Brooklyn home—as bullets flew through the windows, police said.

The 29-year-old woman was inside her home on East 102nd Street, near Flatlands Avenue, in Canarsie around 7 a.m. when gunfire erupted outside.

Bullets that passed through windows hit her in the left arm and leg, police said.

"She was just standing by the house, she was just crying," a neighbor who gave his name as Eric said. "She was yelling, and she just needed help."

The victim was transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County, where she was listed in stable condition.

Several bullet holes were visible on the top and ground floor windows of the home.

Police didn't immediately say if they believe the home was targeted or hit by stray gunfire.

The gunman fled on foot in an unknown direction and remained at large Tuesday morning, police said. He was wearing a black jacket, red hoodie and gray pants.

Neighbors said they've heard gunshots before, but one woman said, "you cannot live in a constant state of fear."
