NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Another stretch of hot and humid weather is gripping the New York City area to finish off the workweek, and the sultry conditions may also bring more severe storms after Monday's deadly flash flooding.

The National Weather Service issued both a Heat Advisory and an Air Quality Alert for all five boroughs and most of the Tri-State until 11 p.m.

Wednesday’s high will be 89 degrees, but RealFeel temps will surge towards 100, according to AccuWeather. It’s much of the same on Thursday, when the high will be 90 and RealFeels will again approach 100.

It’ll otherwise be humid and partly sunny both days with thunderstorms around in the afternoon and evening. Thursday’s storms may be severe and include flooding downpours, damaging winds, hail and even a tornado.

The humidity will subside a bit Friday, but it will still be hot as temps near 90.

Residents looking to stay cool should head to nyc.gov/beattheheat to find resources like cooling center locations and outdoor pools.

"Cooling centers are OPEN, and everyone should spend some time in air conditioning. Heat is the deadliest weather killer in NYC, so it's important to look out for your neighbors this week," Mayor Eric Adams said on X.

Highs will then drop to the mid-80s this weekend. Saturday will be nice—sunny and not too humid—before thunderstorms roll through Saturday night into Sunday.
