NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — One man is dead and another is critically injured after an early morning car crash on a Queens highway, authorities said.
The two 20-year-old men were driving on the Clearview Expressway around 2:18 a.m. near exit 4 when the crash occurred, police said.
According to officials, the driver was passing over 73rd Avenue when he struck a guardrail in the center of the highway.
The car then veered across all lanes to the right shoulder and crashed into a tree, an investigation revealed.
Emergency responders pronounced the driver dead at the scene and transported the passenger to New York Presbyterian - Queens with head and body trauma where he remains in critical condition.
The identity of the driver has not yet been released and the investigation remains ongoing.
