NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – Police arrested the woman who caused an Amber Alert when she carjacked a Hyundai Sonata in Newark that had a 3-year-old boy inside earlier this week, officials confirmed Friday.

Shanita Rose, 40, was arrested by Newark Police and faces charges of carjacking, kidnapping and endangering the welfare of a child.


The crime prompted an Amber Alert on the morning of Oct.
31 when Rose allegedly stole the vehicle, containing 3-year-old Pedro Dasilva, from the 100 block of Wilson Avenue in Newark's Ironbound neighborhood.

The Amber Alert was issued at 9:55 a.m., about 90 minutes after the car wa taken and 35 minutes before Dasilva was found unharmed inside the same Hyundai in Jersey City, the Essex County Sheriff's Office said.
