NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Out of New York City’s 77 precincts, all but five saw an increase in crime rates so far this year, according to the latest NYPD statistics compiled by The New York Post.

In Manhattan, every precinct saw a spike in crime except for the 22nd precinct which covers Central Park.
The precinct with the highest surge in crimes, according to the statistics, is the 110th Precinct in Elmhurst, Queens which saw a 142% increase in crimes as of Sunday.
Only five precincts maintained the same level of crime or dipped below it, the statistics showed.
The crimes that had the biggest spikes in statistics were grand larcenies, with 197 cases this year which is up from 43 cases this time last year, felony assaults, which increased to 59 from 28 and robberies with 30 incidents this year as opposed to 18 at this time last year.
Harlem’s 26th Precinct came in second place for the highest crime percentage surge, reporting a 122% jump mostly due to burglaries, grand larceny and assaults.
The precinct saw a much higher number of burglaries so far this year at 30 cases which is an increase from seven this time last year and both grand larcenies and felony assaults nearly doubled.
District Attorney Alvin Bragg, who is a Harlem native, previously faced criticism for his soft on crime stance but on Tuesday admitted the area is in the middle of a crisis due to heavy crime.
The other three city precincts in the top five list of highest crime increases are the 107th Precinct in Fresh Meadows in Queens, and Brooklyn’s 72nd Precinct in Sunset Park and 69th Precinct in Canarsie.
