MILFORD, Conn. (1010 WINS) -- A Connecticut woman has been charged with staging a robbery of her Milford workplace in order to pocket thousands of dollars, police said.
On May 24, police responded to the Citgo station on Broad Street on reports of an armed robbery.
Police said the store's clerk, Jamie Darouse, 31 of West Haven, told them a man demanded money from her, and told her he had a gun.
Darouse told police she turned over more than $8,000, and the suspect left in a vehicle driven by someone else.
After an investigation, Milford police determined that Darouse, along with Khari Ruffin, 19 of Waterbury, staged the robbery to pocket the money.
Arrest warrants were issued earlier this month, and Ruffin turned himself in on Aug. 13. Darouse was then taken into custody late last week.
A third arrest warrant is outstanding in regards to the driver of the getaway vehicle, police said.
Darouse has been charged with larceny, falsely reporting an incident and false statement. She has been held on $100,000 bond.
Ruffin faced larceny charges and was released on $20,000 bond.
