NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — The NYPD launched an investigation after a man's body was found floating in the water off Rockaway Beach early Monday morning.
At approximately 12:30 a.m., police responded to a 911 call at Rockaway Beach and Boardwalk.
Upon arrival, officers observed an unconscious and unresponsive man in his 30s floating in the water.
The man was removed from the water and transported to St. John's Hospital via EMS where he was pronounced DOA.
The medical examiner will determine the cause of death. The investigation remains ongoing.
The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending family notification.
