NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A dog who was stolen from a sleeping subway rider in the Bronx over the weekend has been returned, sources said Thursday, as police continued to search for a suspect.

“Roc” the dog was returned, but the man who stole him remains at large, according to the sources. The dog was brought to police by a good Samaritan who found him, the sources said.

The pup—an American Bully breed—was snatched on a D train rolling through the Norwood section on Sunday, according to police, who released images of the suspect and the dog Wednesday amid the search.

The dog’s 45-year-old owner was riding the train around 6 a.m. when he dozed off. When he awoke, the dog was gone, police said.

The dog’s owner told amNewYork that Roc is the closest family he has and that “taking my dog is like kidnapping my son.”

“I wanted to go through this journey called life with somebody,” he said Wednesday, before news of the Roc's return. “He depends on me as I depend on him.”
