NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A pedestrian crossing a Staten Island was struck and killed on Tuesday morning, authorities said.

Just after 8 a.m., police responded to a 911 call of a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian struck at the intersection of Post Avenue and Decker Avenue in Port Richmond.

Upon arrival, officers observed a 60-year-old man lying on the roadway with trauma to the torso.

EMS transported the victim to Richmond University Medical Center and was pronounced dead.

Further investigation by the NYPD Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad determined a brown 2010 Audi A4 sedan was making a left turn from northbound Decker Avenue on to westbound Post Avenue and struck the pedestrian who was crossing Post Avenue from the northwest corner to the southwest corner.

The 79-year-old driver remained at the scene. She was transported by EMS to Richmond University Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries to the knees.

There are no arrests and the investigation remains ongoing.

The identity of the deceased is pending proper family notification.
