NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — The NYPD is searching for a driver that left a police officer and a bicyclist injured after multiple collisions during an attempted traffic stop in the Bronx last week.
It happened just before 3 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 24, near the intersection of Westchester Avenue and White Plains Road in Parkchester.
According to police, two uniformed officers attempted to conduct a lawful traffic stop on a driver in a black Ford Bronco. Instead of complying, he allegedly intentionally struck the officers' patrol vehicle with his car.
While attempting to flee the scene, the vehicle then struck a 36-year-old bicyclist, causing him to be thrown from his bike, officials said.
Following the collisions, the suspect reportedly exited the Ford Bronco and fled the scene on foot to an unknown location.
A police officer sustained pain to her arm as a result of the patrol vehicle crash and was taken to a local hospital, where she was listed in stable condition. The bicyclist suffered pain throughout his body. EMS transported him to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi, also in stable condition.
