
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- An elderly man and a mother were killed while multiple people, including her 4-year-old daughter, were injured in a two-alarm fire that ripped through an apartment building in Harlem overnight, officials said.
Over 100 firefighters from 25 units responded to the fire that broke out just after 1:30 a.m. Friday on the third floor of a five-story residential building located at 1833 Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevard, near West 112th Street, fire officials said.
Police said an 81-year-old man, a 56-year-old woman, a 44-year-old woman, a 37-year-old woman, her 4-year-old daughter and her one-month-old son were removed from the building with various injuries and transported by EMS to area hospitals.
A firefighter suffered minor injuries as well, according to the FDNY.
Officials said a total of nine people were rescued.

Adianatou-Nene Korouma, 37, was rushed to Mount Sinai St. Luke's Hospital where she later died of smoke inhalation.

An 81-year-old man, whose identity has not been released pending proper family notification, was also pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Eastside Hospital around 3:30 a.m., authorities said.
Police said the four other individuals were transported to NYC Health & Hospitals/Harlem, where they remain in stable condition.

The flames were placed under control just after 3 a.m., according to the FDNY.
The Fire Marshall will determine the cause of the fire as an investigation remains ongoing.
The FDNY noted that the door to the fire apartment was left open.
