NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A multi-vehicle collision caused extensive traffic delays Tuesday morning on the southbound side of the West Side Highway.
The seven-car crash occurred just before 6:30 a.m. along the southbound side near West 96th Street, leaving only the right lane open.
Northbound emergency activity also forced two lanes to shut down for emergency activity, causing a major backup southbound for morning commuters heading into downtown Manhattan.
Traffic was jammed from the George Washington Bridge down to the crash scene near West 96th Street as multiple people were treated on the scene by EMS.
The extent of those injuries were not immediately known.
An investigation is ongoing.
