NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- Police arrested a suspected gunman who fired a stray bullet that wounded a 2-year-old boy in the Bronx over the weekend.

According to officials, facial recognition technology was used to identify 20-year-old Freddy Flores.

Flores was at the Manhattan Family Justice Center at 3 p.m. on Monday for a prior case involving stolen mail on the Upper West Side where he was arrested and charged in connection with the Saturday shooting, cops said.

At about 1:44 p.m., the boy and his mother were walking near Fordham Road and Grand Concourse in Fordham Heights when he was struck by the stray bullet in his buttocks.

He was rushed to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi in stable condition.

Police believe the bullet was intended for another target and the shooting may have been gang related.
