NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Workers at the city’s fire and sanitation departments have reportedly engaged in coronavirus vaccination fraud to avoid complying with Mayor Bill de Blasio’s municipal workforce mandate.

Employees at the agencies are targeted in a probe into fake vaccination documentation, with some workers allegedly selling off blank vaccination cards, sources told the New York Post.

The FDNY scheme allegedly involved stealing blank cards from various facilities where the department was offering jabs to its staff and other city agencies, the Post reported. Some of those cards might have been sold off, according to the report.

DSNY workers, meanwhile, allegedly obtained falsified vaccination documentation from affiliates with CVS drug stores in the outer boroughs, the Post reported.

That scheme reportedly raised eyebrows when one CVS employee falsely claimed city workers received a Johnson & Johnson one-shot vaccine, even though CVS wasn’t distributing that brand’s shot.

The Department of Investigation and the union representing FDNY EMS workers did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

A spokesman for DSNY confirmed to the Post that there is an active investigation into the allegations of fraud. The city’s Department of Investigation also issued a statement that it was aware of the allegations. The FDNY declined to comment to the outlet.
