NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — Two people were stabbed and one was hit over the head with a bottle when a fight broke out on board a party yacht that had docked at Brooklyn’s Pier 4, near the Brooklyn Army Terminal, late Saturday afternoon.
Officers responded to the Cornucopia Majesty in the vicinity of 58th Street in Sunset Park at around 5 p.m. following reports of a knife on board, authorities said.
Police said that by the time they arrived at the boat, the situation had already turned physical. Two men, ages 32 and 40, were stabbed in the torso, and another 28-year-old was bashed with a bottle amid pushing and shoving.
All three men were transported to NYU Langone Hospital Brooklyn in stable condition.
It is unknown what caused the fight to break out on the 1,200 person-capacity yacht.
“It was really traumatizing, you know,” passenger Joselle Tash told Pix11. “We were stuck on the boat for like an hour or so before we could get off because they were trying to investigate and what not.”
According to social media posts, a party promoter called BYFAR Entertainment was hosting a party dubbed BYFAR On a Boat that began on the Cornucopia Majesty at noon.
Later on Saturday, BYFAR Entertainment addressed the violence in a social media message that postponed the promoter’s night event.
“BYFAR Entertainment has always been a beacon of safe events in New York City and this rare occurrence has never been the norm with us,” the Instagram post read.
While partygoers felt that the passengers' intoxication and the lack of communication provided by those in charge led to a stressful situation, some felt sympathy for the host.
“I feel bad for the host and everything, he always has good parties, and good everything, I hope this doesn’t stick to his name,” Jada Morris told CBS2.
