NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A fire in Queens early Saturday injured eight people who were transported to the hospital, including two NYPD officers and a 7-year-old child who is reportedly in critical condition.

The FDNY received a call reporting a fire at 164-44 73rd Avenue, between 164th Street and 166th Street in Hillcrest, at 2:17 a.m. on Saturday morning, officials said.

The fire was located on the second floor of the two-story building, and it took about 45 minutes to get the flames under control, the FDNY said.

Among the eight people injured in the blaze were two police officers that ran into the building, a 40-year-old man and a 7 year-old child that is in critical condition.

According to the FDNY, one of the injured was transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem; five of the injured were taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Queens; and two of the injured were moved to Long Island Jewish Medical Center.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by fire marshals.
