NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — Ultra-low fare carrier Frontier Airlines announced on Thursday that it is launching its first ever flight route out of John F. Kennedy Airport with twice daily service to San Juan, while simultaneously returning to Newark Liberty International Airport after two years with similar service to the Puerto Rico capital.
The new service from JFK to the Luis Muñoz Marin International Airport is set to begin on June 6 with an intro fare of $59. Flight times out of JFK are listed on Frontier’s website as 5:59 a.m., and 11:08 a.m., with three hour and 59 minute continuous service.
The same intro fare deal is being offered when service from Newark to San Juan begins on June 27, with service occurring once or twice a day (11 times a week). The scheduled flights out of Newark are nearly identical to those out of JFK, with the same takeoff times for four hour and five minute continuous service.
Return flights to JFK and Newark follow the same service pattern and intro fare price point.
Frontier joins Delta and JetBlue in service to San Juan from JFK, and United, Spirit and JetBlue in service from Newark.
To receive the introductory fare offer, tickets must be purchased by 11:59 p.m. Eastern time on March 25, with travel dates between June 14 and Aug. 31.
Blackout dates for the deal include May 28, July 1, 4-8, 11-15, 18-22 and 25-29.
