According to police, the victim was hit around 12:25 p.m. as the driver was traveling northbound on Audubon Avenue and West 170th Street.

The New York Post obtained surveillance footage from the incident, which shows the terrifying moment the victim was hit as she attempted to cross the crosswalk.

At first, it appears that a van in the crosswalk is blocking the girl's view before the sedan hits her.

A witness told the outlet that the girl was propelled into the air and collapsed nearly 15 feet away.

"I was walking with my daughter and I heard a big bang and saw her body flying in the air," the witness said.

Police said the girl was hospitalized in critical but stable condition at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital.

The driver remained at the scene and no criminality is suspected.

Authorities said an investigation is ongoing.
