13-year-old girl shot on Bronx street, gunman sought by police

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police are searching for a gunman after a 13-year-old girl was shot on a Bronx street on Wednesday afternoon while hanging out with friends.

The gunman opened fire at the group around 2:30 p.m., at 1704 Seward Avenue in the Soundview neighborhood, officials said.


According to police, the girl was was with a group of friends at the time of the shooting.

The teen was rushed to Jacobi Hospital after being struck in the right knee and is expected to survive, authorities said.

The gunman fled the scene in an unknown direction, and no arrests have been made so far, police said.
