NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 3-year-old girl is recovering after she was struck by a person riding a moped on a Bronx sidewalk on Friday afternoon, police said.

The child was walking in front of 3041 Holland Ave., near Burke Avenue in Williamsbridge, at about 1:05 p.m. when she was hit.

A man on a scooter was riding on the sidewalk when he struck the child. He did not remain at the scene, continuing northbound on Holland Avenue to parts unknown.

The girl was taken by EMS to NYC Health and Hospitals/Jacobi to treat minor injuries, police said.

In an interview with ABC7, Mariel Rojas—mother to 3-year-old Mylah Rojas—said that her daughter suffered a brain bleed and swollen eyes due to her skull being fractured in the incident.

Police released surveillance footage of the man, described as having a heavy build and medium complexion, early on Saturday morning to help in his apprehension.

He was last seen wearing an orange jacket with a gray shirt underneath, black sweatpants and black sandals with white socks.

The suspect's vehicle is described as a blue moped with stripes on the side.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
