Group robs man in East Village, tries to use his cards at delis

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The NYPD is searching for a group of suspects who robbed a man's wallet on a Manhattan street then attempted to make purchases with his credit card earlier this month.

At approximately 1:45 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 10, a 32-year-old man was approached by a group of four men in front of 249 East 2nd Street, who forcibly stole his wallet.


The group fled eastbound on foot to unknown parts.

The victim sustained minor injuries and was taken to Mount Sinai Beth Israel Hospital.

Later that day at approximately 1:40 p.m., one of the suspects attempted to make purchases with the man's credit card at a deli located at 78 Clinton Street on the Lower East Side, cops said.

 Another purchase was attempted at about 7:45 p.m. at a tobacco shop located at 107 Clinton Street on the Lower East Side, police said.
