NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police charged a gunman after an 8-year-old boy was shot while walking on a Bronx street Tuesday evening, authorities said.
Joshua Brooks, 27, is facing attempted murder, assault, assault on a person less than 11 years old, reckless endangerment and criminal possession of a firearm.
The shooting happened at about 5 p.m. on Beekman Avenue in Mott Haven.
According to the NYPD, the boy had gotten off a school bus and was walking on the sidewalk with his grandmother when he was shot in the thigh.
Responding officers took two suspects into custody at the scene.
Police recovered one gun.
The boy remains at Lincoln Hospital in stable condition.
Brooks had no connection to the boy and it is unclear what led up to the shooting.
An investigation remains ongoing.
